Results of the Test Following 6th Grade as an Example of the Practical Diagnosis of the Student Competences.

Summary/Abstract: The subject matter of this paper is an analysis of the test that follows the 6th grade. The test is seen as the key variable in diagnosis of the student’s school achievements. We will present definition ponderings on what is the external exam in the Polish circumstances. We will discuss education concepts and standards subject to testing. We will present the rules which govern the test after completion of the 3rd level education. Program of the trial monitoring will be discussed, called “Trial Test”, conducted mid-school-year at the primary schools of the quarter of the big city in Poland. Dealing with the statistical analysis we will present detailed descriptive statistical data(mean, standard deviation) for the city quarter, schools and even classes of individual schools, for the test of Autumn 2011. In the closing part we will present results of the test according to year-to-year concept. Final test after 6th grade is conducted based on the standards of requirements which are uniform throughout Poland. It facilitates establishment of the education quality map in the scale of all country, province or commune. In the scale of the primary school the produced examination material delivers objective information about effectiveness and quality of education. Seen in its unit dimension the test facilitates determination of the level and advancement of realization of the curriculum base of the 6th grade. For both the student and his or her parent the results of the test makes an information about his or her achievements, the knowledge he or she mastered and his or her competences.
