Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses Nicholas of Cues’ De visione Dei (On the Vision of God),understood as a genuine phenomenological condition of the apparition. Reduced at oneof the kinds of view, the act of seeing is possible only by the help of the Absolute thatopens the sight through its double action, as a point of departure and of arrival: wherethe divine eye opened for ever puts itself in the horizon of all the eyes that see it, givingitself as an apparitional mode of the existing beings. Therefore, to see means to love andto be, but to love with a view to Him who loves us, to be because we are seen. In thisabsolute Last one, the image moves the eye off, putting it in the distance of the unimaginableHeight.
