Criminality against the national cultural patrimony in Romania

Summary/Abstract: After 1989, the situation of fact in the field of the protection of the national cultural patrimony from Romania registered a significant growth of the criminality. From the examination of the statistic data results that among the most frequently committed infractions against the national cultural patrimony are: the theft of the works of art, of the archaeological and of cult goods; the destruction of the mobile and immobile goods; the effectuation by unauthorized persons of some detections or diggings in the archeological places; the effectuation of some illegal export operations of the ranged mobile cultural goods. Only in the period 2001 – 2005 were committed, 1595 infractions representing thefts of goods of art and cult, destructions of mobile and immobile cultural goods.
