Summary/Abstract: The purpose of that article is to define what the digital divide, which terminology is associated with that term, what factors constituting it. I’ll try to answer the question about the global implications of this phenomenon, as well as the extent of its occurrence in Poland. I refer to the question of how the digital divide creates new social divisions, and how much it worse the past divisions. The key to this part of my paper will be – for Manuel Castells - showing that the problem in “eyes of a child”. Further, a substantial part I will justify the idea that digital divide is not just a matter of lack of use of the network, ability to use it, but also attitudes with which comes to her, what looking in there, etc. Therefore I present another thesis - pedagogy should deal with the “digital self-exclusion” (a term the author’s own), as it is today, it puts us in front of the most serious challenges of childcare. In support of this thesis I refer to one another survey conducted by the school in one of the Polish cities (about 100 thousand inhabitants). At the end I formulate several educational demands.
