Summary/Abstract: When investigating the evolution of the cities, researchers often go, though unconsciously, form the current image of these localities, without taking into account the massive population growth in the course of time. The present study follows the reverse path. Once the earliest areas have been identified, the study pursues the development of these localities. It is believed that at the beginning of a town there were three distinct areas: one appertaining to the ruler, another inhabited by ethnic Germans from Transylvania, and a third inhabited by the local population. The planimetric texture of the respective areas is extremely diverse. Other peripheral districts evolved totally independent and were united with the actual relatively later.
