Summary/Abstract: In this article is done the attempt to argue why this work of Faik Ballanca is a novel that differs from all kinds of novels, not only of this author (who hasn’t written another novel) but and other novelists, too. Faik Ballanca, the author of this novel, titled “Nomeja e largët”, except this, wrote also many books of short stories. Two are the themes that interest this writer in his creations: 1. Contemporary albanian man (in ethic and moral view) 2. Albanians in history. In this novel we can say that these themes are smelt in one, although the aim of the author is to write a work which is connected with the war of albanians against the enemies (occupators) but not special ones. That’s why he brings in his novel a specific character like Bendo who is a conqueror, without a real name, without his native origin foreign, a little strange in his behaviours and relations with the people round him. This is one element that makes this novel different. But the work shows a number of other characteristics that give us the right to classify it as a novel “diversely” like, the special subject of it, the action which is developed in two times (past and present), the fact that in the village where the events happen, have passed many conquers during the times, the contradictional position of peasants and shepherds with whom Bendo lives and works. They love and hate him in the same time. (they love as a man and hate as an enemy). Another special element is connected with the composition of this novel. The author, except the main subject, constructs and puts among the chapters of his novel many stories, chiefly of the past, which present events from many years ago and make known the efforts of the people for freedom. These stories which are told from different inhabitants of the village, in one way, realize the join of the past and the present, underlining the strong desire and love of our people to live free. Another characteristic of the novel is that it doesn’t describe or gets on only with the war of our people but shows the today’s life, too. All the events happen in a village in south Albania, among the peasants of it and especially among a collective of shepherds.
