Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the Warsaw’s University of Technology (WUT) newly built “smart” building. The building has been fitted with many innovative solutions including independent renewable electrical and heat supply sources, smart metering and management system. The developed system allows to control energy the flow in the building and operate the energy supply installation. The novelty of the solution is the connection of the EIB/KNX system with the ICONICS Genesis 64 SCADA unique way. The method was uncomplicated, easy to implement and therefore cost-effective. Moreover the WUT smart building holds a hybrid power conversion installation. By equipping the building with an energy management and metering system allowed us to investigate new heat and electrical storage systems. This paper will present a conception of innovative energy storage system for buildings based on high speed flying wheels.
