Summary/Abstract: Deviation is a phenomenon concerning social behaviors that deviate from certain so-called normal, established standards in a particular group, which has accordingly appeared in any so far known to us society. In this article, I recall the distinction used by sociologists between positive deviation and negative deviation. This means that not all behavior which is called deviant by society represent a danger. As in the case, for example, of a strange haircut or an eccentric outfit that may raise concerns for the adults, but which is usually for young people a kind of rebellion, in relation to certain rules, and is associated with the search for their own identity. Consequently, it is the intention of this study to narrow the issues for research only to negative deviation, as it is connected with a high level of danger and risks to individuals, groups and the wider public. Current theoretical and scientific developments, statistical data, as well as reports from the daily media services, show rather an upward trend in the phenomena and behaviors among students defined as negative deviant. From this position, it seems interesting to verify whether these issues and data on deviance among Polish school students are made more available and known to teachers. Thus, the idea was born of a non-reactive research, conducted with the help of sociological quantitative content analysis. As source material for the research, five widely available articles were selected from the educational specialist press - dedicated to issues of school and education. The analysis included articles from the period from January 2010 to September 2012. Based on the analysis of these articles, it is possible to recognize that in a school environment some occurrences and students’ behaviors are to be referred to as negatively deviant.
