The importance of renewable energy sources for sustain- able development of Polish regions

Summary/Abstract: Energy policy plays a key role in the European Union and has a significant impact on the socio-economic development of regions. EU energy policy has been focused on efforts to reduce energy consumption and to increase energy efficiency and wider use of renewable energy sources. In recent years, the share of renewable-energy sources has significantly increased in the total Polish energy balance. The aim of the article will be to analyze the impact of capabilities of renewable energy sources in Polish regions along with potential benefits of applying them.
