Summary/Abstract: When selecting a textbook or other materials for a university course the traditional wisdom is “one size fits all”. In recent years new approaches are being developed that take into consideration the specifics of the students as individuals. At the moment such materials are more readily available thanks to digital editions and the Internet. We suggest a more flexible approach to recommending textbooks and additional literature to students, by looking at the selection process as a multicriteria optimization problem.
