LOCAL DISCOURSE OF A SMALL TOWN IN A NEWS LINE (BASED ON THE WEBSITE "YORSH KRASNY SULIN")

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the local mass-medial discourse of a small city on the materials of the news website "Yorsh Krasny Sulin" which are addressed to the residents of the town Krasny Sulin of Rostov region. Local discourse of a small city can not be characterized by the full isolation from the general linguistic discourse, but it reveals some specific features which allow judging its local character. Publications of the website reflect the geographical features of the region, citizens’lifestyle, their interests, tastes, preferences and emotional states. The language of the local discourse is characterized by a desire for brevity, informativeness, the use of local place names, emotionally colored lexicon. Authors of news texts follow the local features of the discourse, trying to put it in their materials to promote the site and attract new readers.
