Keywords: morality; gregarious egoism; prudence; eudemonia;
Summary/Abstract: There is a widespread misunderstanding about ethical egoism, with only a few exceptions (e.g., David L. Norton and Ayn Rand). The position does not promote interpersonal hostility and acrimony but mainly the virtue of prudence, in the Aristotelian ethical tradition of eudemonia. That is a gist of this essay.
