Summary/Abstract: In the Metaliferi andTrascău Mountains, geomorphological areas including Ampoi Valley, the accumulation ofsedimentary deposits began with Jurassic, since instead of basic magmatic rocks, asevidenced by the presence ofsporadic intercalations ofsandstones, limestone, shale andmarlincluded in magmatic rocks. From the Lower Cretaceous rocks (predominantly flysch), andthe UpperCretaceous( predominantly shelf), there are remarkable differences due to MiddleCretaceous Orogenesis, during which they were created the fundamental features ofstructural building in Metaliferi Mountains. Upper Cretaceous was more agitated than theLower Cretaceous, due to geological processes that took place during this period, andimportant changes in paleogeography and structure of a large part of southern of ApuseniMountains were produced. The geological structure of the area included five units (Bucium,Bedeleu, Trascău, Feneş and Căpâlnaş-Techereu), which are described in the paper.
