Summary/Abstract: The article investigates the artistic features and typology of gravestones preserved in the territory of the medieval Dagestani fort of Targu as well as Arabic inscriptions on them. Approximate dates of the monuments have been determined. The author gives reasons for the assumption that the sarcophagus-like headstones belong to the nobles of Oghuz origin.
