Summary/Abstract: This article discusses a new youth group in the sphere of second-hand consumption in St. Petersburg — «hunters». «Hunters» are young people who search for things in second-hand stores or at flea markets with an aim to resell them through social media or online shops. Drawing from data of personal interviews, we consider social characteristics of “hunters” as well as the meanings and practices of their activities. The activities of “hunters” are not limited to being merely resellers. They invest their taste and cultural capital when searching for material objects (mostly clothing, shoes and accessories) and thus operate as cultural intermediaries. They also act as prosumers, or creative consumers, who take part in production and consumption of things simultaneously.
