Summary/Abstract: The article describes and analyzes a set of Russian proverbs that contain personal names. The appearance of such words, whichname people of different genders in Russian proverbs, is conditioned by a set of extra-linguistic and linguistic factors. Models witha deliberateinclusion of proper names into similar by syntactic structure groups of Russian proverbs are described. The choice ofa personal name, rather accidental by nature, is determined by the word it rhymes with. Models, which include rhyming with proverbscontaining animali, are described and analyzed. It is shown that the most frequently met models are the ones that incorporatepossessive or attributive pronouns: our, everyone, everybody. It is argued that the lack of close connection between a proper name ofthe proverb with a single distinct object, recognized by many researchers, explains their rather formal usage in Russian proverbs. Thearticle may present a particular interest to the specialists in the field of onomastics, paremiology, and research rhymes.
