Summary/Abstract: In the context of the study of the norms of professional codes of legal ethics, the article reveals the legal nature of a moral and ethical misconduct and its equivalence to an offence, which allows qualifying it to be the basis for legal responsibility of legal practitioners. The work gives a critical assessment of the structural features of the norms of certain professional codes of legal ethics (Code of Judicial Ethics) characterized by ambiguity and purely discretionary nature of legal qualification of behavior as a moral and ethical misconduct.
