Summary/Abstract: The article presents the activity of Wilhelm Poll (Pohl, Pol), the architect of the first half of the 17th century, and introduces two new sources on his works: contracts for the const-ruction of the Kojdanów (Belarusian Койданава) Evangelical church (1611) and the design of Mikołaj Kiszka’s gravestone at the Bernardine church in Iwie (Belarusian Iўе) (1632). These sources reveal new areas of Poll’s activity and allow for a new assessment of his work as well as provide rare historical evidence on the social status and activity of builders. Poll was known as a royal architect who was responsible for procurement of building materials for the construction of Vilnius castles and who worked for the Vilnius chapter. The new material allows stating that Poll was among the most influential master builders of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania of the first half of the 17th century; he had long-term employment ties with the Radziwiłł family in Biržai and carried out commissions for representative works for the Kiszka family. The contracts presented show that Poll was not only an active designer of buildings able to perform complicated creative tasks, but also as it was customary for the architects of the new era in this region, took active part in work organization and in the supply of building materials.
