IMPORTANCE AND SCIENTIFIC COMPONENT (FUNCTION) FUNDS AND COLLECTION OF ARCHIVE OF TUZLA CANTON

Summary/Abstract: Goal of every archive is selecting, taking over, arranging, protecting and studying of archival material, and also making it available for use by science, society or individuals according to its needs. By organizing activities like presentations, classes, seminars, organized visits in order to introduce broader community with arhive's work, publishing, an archive tries to stimulate interest for historical scientific research, and nurture interest as well as need in younger generations for scientific research. Archival fonds and collections are a form of cultural heritage that enables correct interpretation of certain historical topic, it presents historical source that are relevant way of presenting true and correct overview of the past, while avoiding improvisations and arbitrary subjective interpretations. lnorderto put stored archival material to good use, everything necessary must be done to make it available as soon as possible to researchers, while keeping high level of service quality. That means that archival material should be microfilmed and digitalized. In order to transfer written material to modern data carriers certain amount of time and financial support are necessary. Whether it is the right way or not is no longer a question, but answer to how these project's should be developed and funded, is needed. Archival fonds and collection of Archive of Tuzla Canton besides being carefully protected in archive's depository, where optimum conditions for their safekeeping are met.have a very important function since they are being used as evidence, for cultural and scientific reseach. Their use provides numerous facts that are presented every year in scientiric and professional publications. Certain difficulties are still present while using archival fonds and collections, like lack of microfilms and digitalized material, lack of expert cadre and inadequate work space, but they are not insurmountable and could be positively resolved in near future.
