Does a Bipartisan System Offer More Political Stability? Some Considerations on the Cases of Unites States and United Kingdom

Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to present some considerations on the possible relationship between a party system characterized by bipartidism and political stability. As case studies we selected the United States and England, two countries characterized both by political stability in the last century, and also by having bipartisan party systems. In conclusion we can affirm that the two-party system does not directly implies the existence of political stability, since is necessary the analysis of different factors that can explain this phenomenon, but it is true that there is a link between the party system and the absence of drastic changes on the structure of the political system.
