Summary/Abstract: The present study explores key issues in the configuration of the domain of American Cultural Studies and their roles in the evolution of this academic discipline, seen as a site of struggle over paradigms, signifying practices, methods and resources. The central argument of the paper is that postmodernism as a cultural phenomenon acted as the transforming force/trigger of metamorphosis/ for this field of study reshaping it into a vital formula of cultural criticism apt to address a plurality of issues and integrate multifarious scholarly and artistic concerns alike.
