Summary/Abstract: This paper is devoted to the transformation of the modern professional philosophical discourse. The causes for its transformation are as follows: 1) the uncertain position of philosophy in the changing system of higher education and 2) the use of new technologies to produce a philosophical text. The purpose of the paper is to describe the main consequences of these causes, namely the reconsideration of the relationship between rhetoric and philosophy, and the rehabilitation of sophistry. The mutual influence of these two processes makes it possible to evaluate the changes in the modern professional philosophical discourse. The main conclusion of the study is the assumption that modern philosophical studies as compared with the usual academic standards imply personal participation, openness of the audience and unpredictability of the results.
