MAJOR PROBLEMS IN REGIONAL SPORTS POLICY IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes central problems in the sphere of physical education and sports and their perception by the subjects of the Russian Federation when setting goals, formulating functions and tasks for the regional policy. Attention is focused on the problem of correspondence between the conceptual frameworks of sports policy at the regional and federal level. It is shown that the low efficiency of the current policy is largely due to the biased understanding of the problems in physical education and sports by regional authorities. In this situation interregional cooperation is required.
