Summary/Abstract: The first part of this study deals with the diverging biblical traditions and the current archaeological debates regarding Jerusalem in the pre-monarchic period. The second (main) part presents an annotated Hungarian translation (parallel to the Akkadian transcription) of the Amarna Letters EA 285-290 sent by Abdi-Heba, the ruler of Jerusalem, to the Egyptian court.
