Summary/Abstract: The changes in the structure of the capitula of Vilnius cathedral, initiated in the 19th century and implemented by civilian authorities, are the result of confessional policies of the Russian Empire in regard to the Catholic Church, carried out after the partitions of the Republic of Both Nations in the lands of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Relying on historiography and primary sources, aspects of structure and organization of the capitula of Vilnius cathedral, that had influenced the development of this corporation of clergy and diocese, are analysed.
