Summary/Abstract: Semantic inaccuracies and contradictions in the content of the business process model lead to wrong and inefficient technological interpretation about how work is really done. In this paper we propose an approach for automated semantic correctness analysis of a set of business processes taking in consideration the interrelationships among these processes in terms of the responsible entities and the information objects they share. Criteria for identifying syntax and semantic errors have been defined and a software tool has been developed for the purpose of automating the task for discovering such errors. A realistic large scale case study with a huge number of EPC process models originating from an Academic institution illustrates the implementation of this approach. The proposed approach reduces substantially the human involvement in allocating inconsistent usage of documents, roles and information systems across the whole set of business processes.
