Summary/Abstract: In this article, we analyse the fictional representation of the Ryazan battles in the chronicle tradition of Old Russia. We present comparative descriptions of the battles of 1365, 1378 and 1408 based on all-Russian chronicles compiled at different times and in different places. We also single out a number of poetic features of the Ryazan chronicle writing, such as broadening of military formulas, expressivity of narration, complication of syntactic constructions, etc. The analysis of the texts under consideration proves the existence of the Ryazan chronicle that has not survived to the present day.
