Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to outline the specific language of Soviet historical science based on the example of Soviet historiography of antiquity. We emphasize the importance of scientific research in the field stated, and propose an interpretation of the language of historiography concept. The main part of the article describes the two main characteristics of the language of Soviet historical science: the elevation of all meanings to an absolute truth and the focus on orthodoxy; the relationship and interaction between these characteristics are shown. We also reveal specific “fears” of Soviet historiography, which were reflected in its language.
