Summary/Abstract: The article presents a new English-Tatar dictionary consisting of 10000 words for school children and students. A short review of the basic academic works on lexicography is given. The problems of word selection, headword presentation, abbreviations, and translation into English are discussed. Within the topic of the paper, the notion of lexical minimum is considered. The micro- and macro-structure of the dictionary is described.
