Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the work of an outstanding organizer of Tatar press, writer, playwright and public figure – Gayaz Ishaki. His rich artistic heritage became available for researchers only in the 1990s. We identify three main stages in Ishaki’s journalistic activity. In 1905–1913 he adhered to the ideology of Social Revolutionaries and actively opposed the regime of autocracy. From 1913 to 1917 he was a supporter of democratic conquests in the interests of his nation. The third stage (1917–1939) was characterized by a struggle against the Soviet regime in emigration. The study of Ishaki’s creative heritage is important for filling the blank spaces in the history of Tatar journalism.
