Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to draw a historical transition from a doctrinaire socialist realism to a specific form of Yugoslav modernist culture and explain the emergence of neo-constructivist line in Neo-avant-garde paradigm (EXAT 51, New Tendencies), which has positioned itself as a utopian-projective-humanistic critique, or ‘internal audit’ of the same Yugoslavian modernism. This was attempted to be achieved by analyzing the formation of humanistic paradigm and its connection with the criticism of socialist realism and the birth of socialist modernism in art and beyond, in the Yugoslav culture that has developed within the Marxist ideological horizon. The paper thus tries to recognize certain concepts through the recognition of degrees of understanding art, its function and status in society, in relation to Marxist theory.
