Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses some aspects of religiosity and religious identity in modern Russia. Radical discrepancies have been revealed between the levels of declared religiosity and actual activity of religious life. One of the main conclusions is that the religious identity of modern Russians is a subidentity within their overall cultural identity. The paper is based on the results of sociological surveys performed in the 1990s and 2000s by the research centers, including the Research Center for Religious Studies of the Tambov State University.
