Summary/Abstract: Starting point of this thesis was a realisation that on the area of southeastern Europe it is still necessary to point out the impor tance of archival material to the public as an important part of entire cultural heritage. Thereto in countries that had socialistic sociopolitical system for decades it is necessary to show, in the context of archival heritage, the value of specific archival heritage in possesion of religious communities as one of sources for creating a complete mosaic of collective memory. In this work (text) special attention was given to religious archivistic material in Bosnia and Herzegovina that's being kept in archives of Catholic provenance. Informations from the area of archivistic theory and practice of Ca tholic Church are applied to the BosnianHerzegovian context and existence, typology, contents and value of these archival instituti ons are also presented. They are not part of the organized syystem of public archival service, so they are not available in that way to the broader public, but they are collecting and preserving archi val material of religious and other provenance for centuries, and that material is important source of informations about people and events in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Cursory asses ment of the archival heritage which is being kept in monastery archives of Franciscan province Bosnia Argentina was used as an example whose goal is to encourage needed and possible sinergy of forces and complementary care for this kind of archival material. This heritage by itself, as well as those who managed to preserve it until today, deserve our admiration, but events that happened with this material during history, its dissipating and destruction all up to the recent war and even today, serve as warning and a wake up call. Namely, these are valuable parts of national, European and world's cultural heritage, which is what Section for church archives and archives of religious communities of International archivistic commitee are warning us about.
