Nature, role and importance of health promotion – a new philosophy of public health

Summary/Abstract: Modern ideas, trends and challenges characterize health as a process of increasing interdependence between societies, so that events in one part of the world increasingly have effects on people and communities away from them. This global health priority need to expand the content of the concept of health promotion, in addition to positive health includes activities to limit the negative health. In this regard, new public health seeks to address and position the promotion of health in all communities and organizations of people’s everyday lives. This article examines the health promotion as an important element in modern conceptions of health policy as a key role in the management of health promotion are health professionals working in practices SGP. These opportunities relate to the benefits that they have: to maintain constant contact with the local people, to know their lifestyle and their health.
