Summary/Abstract: The historical development of preventive (prophylactic) occupational medicine during the last years includes the process of harmonization of Bulgarian occupational health legislation with the European regulations. A substantial part of this process is the establishment and maintenance of health information on occupational diseases, their carriers and the specific working conditions under which they arose and developed. An overall comprehensive historical review of the major milestones and processes, associated with the preventive occupational medicine, health regulations and documents, was made, based on national traditions and the requirements of European statistics on occupational diseases and occupational medicine.
