Summary/Abstract: Onomastics is an interdisciplinary field, with a primarary leaning towards linguistics. An analysis of onomastics applies many methodologies appropriate to other branches of linguistics and humanities, hence such concepts as socioonomastics, psychonomastics, cultural onomastics, literary onomastics etc. This paper is devoted to the issue of the relationship between onomastics and sociology. Socioonomastisc is a subfield of onomastics, studying the names from the sociolinguistic and sociological standpoint.
