Summary/Abstract: The main focus of this paper is to analyze the role of emotions such as anger, fear and hope in intractable intergroup conflicts as well as the process of their resolution. According to Bar-Tal's and Krisberg's concept, an intractable conflict produces a specific ethos that enables an individual to function in stressful conditions. It also influences a tendency to generate collective emotions. These emotions play role in the formation of barriers between sides during the peace process. However, they can also have positive repercussions and encourage the feuding sides to take risks and attenpt a negotiated peace.
