Alternative methods of decision-maker preferences identification in multicriteria issues

Summary/Abstract: Most multiple criteria decision aiding methods need in the first step to determine the weights for criteria. In many cases it causes problems. The aim of this study is to present a new methodology that allows to avoid this problem. Stochastic Multicriteria Acceptability Analysis (SMAA) through the the analysis of the weight space lets determine which alternative would be most preferred and by whom. New information collected in this way gives an opportunity to improve results obtained from classical multiple criteria decision aiding method. This paper contains implementation of SMAA-PROMETHEE method on a simple example of mobile phone operator selection.
