Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses to the one of the most interesting magazines for children published between the Liberation and the World War I (1878-1918). The magazine “Zvezditsa” was published from 1892 to 1914 as a monthly illustrated magazine for children. Its success was due to its editor Nikola Belovezhdov who was a teacher for a long time before working in the magazine. “Zvezditsa” was one of the most popular magazine this time because children can read literary works of the best Bulgarian writers in its pages. That is way it had the biggest circulation until the World War I – 11000.The author discusses the problems of this magazine in the context of periodicals for children and for adults as well. The main purpose of children`s literature this time is the education of readers. And “Zvezditsa” published mainly educational works, some of them didactic. Therefore the magazines for children were encyclopedic, apolitical and didactic.
