Summary/Abstract: The article looks at the policy programmes and role of support for rural development under Common Agricultural Policy. The author presents the characteristics of the Rural Development Programme in the current programming period (2014–2020) in comparison with the previous ones. Special attention is given to the budget of Rural Development Programme. It is also assessed from the point of view of the development of the Polish countryside.
