Summary/Abstract: In the article, one of the famous Turkish folklorist of the 20th century, Pertev Naili Boratav’s scientific researches and opinions about creativity of ashug art are discussed. The effect of these investigations to Azerbaijan folklore-study, the importance of these investigations in the studying ashug art and the values of these investigations in terms of modernity are studied. The controversial tunes of Pertev Naili Boratav’s scientific and ideological reasons have been detected.
