Development Cooperation and Gender Equality

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the problem of gender equality in development cooperation, defining the most important theoretical questions and outlining the work of the international community and the state of research in this field. Examined are the documents and materials of international organisations and NGOs as well as selected literature. The article presents the position of women in developing countries along with the main concepts of supporting gender equality through development assistance; it also reviews the efficiency of development assistance in overcoming gender inequality.
