Summary/Abstract: “Sobranye lucŝyh sočynenij” (1762; Rus. “Собрание лучших сочинений”) was the first Russian quarterly magazine founded by Johann Gottfried Reichel (1727-1778), a German history professor at the Moscow University. The article presents the preface (programme of the periodical, outline of the history of the West-European periodicals), selected translations of the works of the West-European authors (J.J. Rousseau’s letter to Voltaire on his Poem on the Lisbon Disaster and others) and Reichel’s comments on them (among others D.I. Fonvizin’s translation of the novel Sethos... by J. Terrasson).
