Summary/Abstract: The article – Debt problems of european countries – concerns the most common factor of developed and developing countries. Paradoxally the countries of “Old Union” have higher debt relation to GDP than “New Union”. The important role play financial markets. Their scale is higher then GDP, sometimes several times. The financial crisis 2008 created huge budget deficit and several countries went almost to bankrupcy. The real remedium is connected with growth and unfortunately with inflation. The final solution is still in long term future.
