Summary/Abstract: Terrorism has arguably beenone of the defining factors of our age. Itfrequently makes headlines, threatening orattacking governments, private businessand ordinary citizens. And in many parts ofthe world, it has been one of the mostimportant threats to peace, security andstability. Though is a worldwidephenomenon, many people do not knowhow to define terrorism and to identify itscharacteristics and roots and this is mainlybecause there is no generally accepteddefinition of terrorism. In the following, wewill have a closer look at the evolution ofterrorism and we will identify the mostimportant core components in a definitionof terrorism.
