Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to answer the question whether, and to what extent, international law and the European Union law imposes on Poland the obligation to eliminate gender stereotypes, by curriculum development and proper formation of textbooks, and whether international standards require Poland to provide education on gender equality. The subject of this research and analysis represent both international agreements and non-binding documents adopted at different levels of international cooperation: under the auspices of the UN, the Council of Europe, as well as by the OECD. Due to its specificity, separate analysis has been conducted on primary and secondary European Union law and also in this case, the attention has been drawn up to non-binding regulations. By analysing standards within the broader issue of gender equality in education, formulated under the auspices of the three main actors creating Polish obligations under international law, i.e. the UN, the Council of Europe and the European Union it was possible to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the obligations imposed on Poland by international and European law in the study area.
