Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the emergence and promotion of the idea of longlife learning within the context of the learning society. Longlife learning is understood and analyzed as one of the elements of the new educational paradigm. Under scrutiny is the policy of the European Union in the field and the realization of the longlife learning idea in the difficult conditions of the transition period in Bulgaria.
