Summary/Abstract: Basing on analysis of six sequence units znowu, znowuż, znów, z kolei, wreszcie and w końcu, the author sets out to unravel a metatextual group sharing certain features with conjunctions (opening two slots) and others with particles (changeable position within a sentence). The sequence units are presented regarding to such criteria as: preference towards their coocurent (choosing rather a phrase or a sentence for their companion? allowing any metatextual unit to govern the T-R structure from a higher position or excluding such a possibility?) and possible placement within a sentence. The units are then compared with their Bulgarian and Russian counterparts to show whether or not Slavic languages use one metatextual reservoir or create metatextual units independently.
