Summary/Abstract: Within the period running from about 1960 to 1980, the history of French Marxism experienced both a crisis and an unprecedented surge. Relying on the - yet relative - orthodoxy of the Communist party, the blooming of left-wing secessionism has been impressive, even leading to a certain number of trends one may wish to define. Each trend is in itself the cause of endless internal scatterings which remain astonishing for any historian of politics. All the more so as an often loose imaginary world seems to be at work behind this apparent plurality. The question remains to know whether this apparent dissemination does not in fact constitute the scattering of a powerful unifying fantasy.
