Summary/Abstract: This study highlights the writing deficiency in two contemporary novels, Du hérisson by Éric Chevillard and Ciels liquides by Anne Garréta, through cognitive science. Resorting to the autopoietic model, developed by Francisco Varela and Humberto Maturana, we propose to think this deficiency as the expression of an emergent functioning, which leads to a dynamics of individuation. The postures of this dynamics will be followed through the hedgehogful spiral which strikes the text, the narrator and the reader in Du hérisson and the experimentation of “je” in a fluid, abyssal space without language in Ciels liquides.
